Notes: St. Elizabeth parish was originally located in Mitchell. The cornerstone for the church in Mitchell was laid on October 1, 1871. By the 1950s the parish had outgrown the church in Mitchell and a decision was made to move the parish to Granite City where a larger church could be built. Mass continued in Mitchell until November 1962. The building was later demolished. The first St. Elizabeth Church in Granite City was built in 1962. The building is still standing, but is no longer used for church services.
